Caleb Parry Wayne (1776–1849)
Bushrod Washington wrote numerous letters to Wayne regarding the publication of Life of Washington.
Caleb Parry (or Perry) Wayne was born in Philadelphia on 18 May 1776. A publisher by trade, he put out the pro-Federalist Federal Gazette and Daily Advertiser (Boston) before printing John Marshall's Life of Washington. He was also co-owner of a Philadelphia store established by father-in-law James Stokes. Wayne married twice: to Mary Stokes (c. 1784–1818) in 1804 and to Elizabeth Twamley (1794–1832) in 1822. He had eight children with the former and one with the latter.
