William Augustine Washington (1757–1810)
William Augustine Washington was a cousin and brother-in-law of Bushrod Washington.
William Augustine Washington, son of a half-brother of George Washington, was born at Wakefield on 25 November 1757. While a teenager he was elected a captain of Westmoreland County militia and served in the Revolutionary War. A planter by profession, he was also sheriff of Westmoreland County (1784–86) and a member of the Virginia House of Delegates (1788).
