Your Letter of the 6th Int. I have this day recd. In the dispute with McClain for the Land Genl Washington sold him called round Bottom—I observe it is your opinion a compromise had better be made with McClain, by taking back the round Bottom & paying him such a Sum as he might be satisfyed with— You are impowerd by me, so far as I have any concern in this business, in behalf of my self and my Children, to use your own judgment & discresion in compromising or setling the dispute with Mr McClain; I should then to any of the Legatees who would not agree to submitting to your judgement, in compromising with McClain, He surely can never object to be bound by the decision of a majority. I am Gentn sincerely & respectfully your most Obt Sevt
