Description

Richard Henry Lee, patriot and father of Ludwell Lee, Thomas Jesse Lee, and Hannah Lee Washington, was born on 20 January 1732 at Stratford, the family plantation in Westmoreland County, Virginia. After an education in England and a tour of Europe, he returned home and started his career in public office as a justice of the peace.
