From Richard Henry Lee
Leesburg Octr 3d 1827.
My Dear Sir
I am about to ask you to aid me, in getting information of some gentleman, of approved character & qualifications, for the following purposes–
My Sister Mrs Love, whose husband has thro' bad management, lost all the property he received with her, intends to open a female Academy in Leesburg— If she carries her intention into effect, she will endeavor to open a school, on a large & really useful plan. To aid her in this, she wishes to employ a person of settled character, of genteel manners, and of a good, thorough English education, & who has been accustomed to teach— She wishes such a person, to teach the solidbranches of education— An unmarried man, would be preferred— one, who could board in the town and attend the school—
I have thought, that your extensive acquaintance in Pha. and your long stay there, might enable you, to hear of such a person and convey to him, the wish of Mrs Love to employ him— Her allowance to him would either come from the realised profits of the school or would be a specified liberal sum pr annum —
If you can, as you see your acquaintances in the City, mention to them, your wish to hear of a person, such as I have described, and could inform me, you would confer a great favour on me & my sister, which we would gratefully remember. I am, My Dear Sir, with great respect & esteem, Yrs &c.
Richard Henry Lee.
