Description

Henry Lee III, brother of Edmund Jennings Lee, Richard Bland Lee, and Charles Lee and father of Robert E. Lee, was born on 29 January 1756 at the family plantation in Prince William County, Virginia. Following graduation from the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University), he served in the Revolutionary War under George Washington and Nathanael Greene.
