Charles Carter was the husband of Bushrod Washington's cousin.

Description

Charles Carter, son of Edward and Sarah Champe Carter, was born on 27 August 1762 at Blenheim, the family plantation home in Albemarle County, Virginia. He married Elizabeth Lewis in 1781. From 1793 to 1806 he and his family lived in Culpeper County. They relocated to Frederick County before settling in 1820 at Deerwood in Pittsylvania County. Carter and Lewis had sixteen children. Charles Carter died on 9 May 1827.
