Description

Lund Washington, a distant cousin of George Washington, was born on 21 October 1737 in present-day King George County, Virginia. He managed estates in Albemarle and Fairfax counties before George hired him in 1764 to run his Mount Vernon farms. Lund would serve in this position for approximately twenty years, including George’s eight-year absence during the Revolutionary War. Lund also looked after the financial affairs of Mary Ball Washington.
