Description

Robert Trimble was born in Virginia on 17 November 1776. His family soon after moved to Kentucky, where he studied law and opened a practice in Paris. Following a stint as a state legislator, Trimble served as second judge on the Kentucky Court of Appeals (1807–08, 1810), district attorney for the State of Kentucky (1813–17), and judge on the U.S. District Court for the District of Kentucky (1817–26). In 1826 President John Quincy Adams nominated him to the U.S.
