Noblet Herbert Jr. was a grandnephew of Bushrod Washington.

Description

Noblet Herbert Jr., son of Noblet Herbert and Mary Lee Washington Herbert, was born circa 1825, the same year as the deaths of his father and two of his brothers. Following his mother's demise in 1827, he lived with his uncle John Augustine Washington II in present-day West Virginia. In 1849 Herbert Jr. joined the California Gold Rush via the Charles Town Mining Group, a body of about eighty young men from Jefferson County.
