George Steptoe Washington Jr. was a son of Bushrod Washington's cousin.

Description

George Steptoe Washington Jr., the youngest of three surviving sons of George Steptoe Washington (died 1809) and Lucy Payne Washington, was born at Harewood on 15 October 1806. He spent the majority of his childhood in Frankfort, Kentucky, the home of U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Thomas Todd, whom Lucy Payne Washington had wed in 1812. In 1827 George Jr. married Gabriella Augusta Hawkins (1810–1899).
