From Bushrod Corbin Washington

My Dear Uncle

I have just arrived here, where I met with Mr Rudd & Perry they succeeded in geting the spotted horse & bridle but did not get the saddle they have got such intelagence of Charles & Nathan as induces them to believe that they are not far from this place conceald, & that it will require some little management to come at them; they have distinctly understood from some Quakersthat they have been recently passing about in this neighbourhood, & were unwilling to give any information about them untill informed that they (the negroes) were guilty of horse stealing; upon which they said they were willing to afford protection to runaways, but not disposed to render any assistance to disonesty; & upon that ground they will proceed untill they can get quiet possession of them. The horses are so very much reduced that they cannot trvel for a few days I shall therefore leave them with Mr Perry. I have left with him forty dollars to defray the expences of himself & the three horses.

Sunday morning Lancaster turnpike

The expences of the horses from the time they were taken in possession by Mr Rudd untill they reached Norristown amounted to twenty dollars the reward for the three was sixty which with the amt left with Perry would make the sum of $120 which would have left me but $22 1/2 <mutilated>e gon home with, I therefore took the liberty of drawing on you in favor of Mr Richd Rudd for the sixty Dollar payable ten days after date. I hope it will not be placeing you to any inconvenience for if I had supposed it would the draft should not have been drawn. Rudd & Perry go out in persuit this morning I left them at Norristown about six oclock this morning. I am expecting every moment the stage which I shall take for Lancaster & as soon as I arrive home will write you.
