Richard Peters Jr. (1779/80–1848)

Richard Peters Jr., son of federal judge Richard Peters, was born in Philadelphia. The date of his birth is unclear, alternately reported as 4 August 1779 or 17 August 1780. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1800; four years later he married Abigail Willing (1777–1841), who would bear him five children.
