George Augustine Washington Spotswood (1783–1844)
Spotswood's mother (Elizabeth Washington Spotswood) was a cousin of Bushrod Washington.
George Augustine Washington Spotswood, brother of William Lawrence McCarty Spotswood and son of Alexander Spotswood, was born on 5 January 1783 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. He served as a Navy midshipman (1799–1803) and lieutenant in the Virginia militia during the War of 1812.
