William Lawrence McCarty Spotswood (1791–1871)
Spotswood's mother (Elizabeth Washington Spotswood) was a cousin of Bushrod Washington.
William Lawrence McCarty Spotswood, brother of George Augustine Washington Spotswood and son of Alexander Spotswood, was born on 7 October 1791 at Nottingham, the family estate near Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 1822 he married Catherine Anne Jones (1794–1836), with whom he would have four children.
