Thomas Griffin (1773–1836)
Thomas Griffin and Bushrod Washington corresponded regarding the Dismal Swamp Company.
Thomas Griffin was born in 1773 in Yorktown, Virginia. A lawyer and planter, he sat for multiple terms in the Virginia legislature, served in the U.S. House of Representatives (1803–05), and was a major of Virginia militia during the War of 1812.
