From Thomas Griffin
York Town Virga. 22d May 1819
Dr Sir
Your power of Attorney to represent you at the late meeting of the D.S. Land Compy of Suffolk arrived in time, and I now enclose you, draughts on the treasury of the Company, who lives in Norfolk which I hope will arrive safe and give satisfaction. The dividend is certainly considerable being1 fifteen per cent, upon the amt of Cash Sales of stock, and more than twenty five on the original sum subscribed— The parts blotted out in the lower side of the draft were receipts, which I had written for the amt of the draughts but which upon inspection of your power, I found I was not authorised to receieve, hence the erasure— The money is ready in the hands of the treasurer, and I presume you will find no difficulty in arranging with your banks, in Alexa. for the amt of the draught. I shall be glad to hear from you, of their safe arrival and with high respect yr Hl. Sevt
