John Dalrymple Orr (1771–1816)

Description

John Dalrymple Orr, a physician and planter, was born in Leedstown, Westmoreland County, Virginia. After studying medicine at the University of Edinburgh, he returned to Virginia, set up practice in Alexandria, and married Lucinda Lee, a niece of Richard Henry Lee. Orr and Lee had six children. In 1813 Orr and his family moved to Frederick County. He died on 31 May 1816 at the home of his brother Benjamin Grayson Orr, the mayor of Washington, D.C.
