Jacob Duché (c. 1737–1798)

Description

Jacob Duché, Anglican clergyman and turncoat, was born in Philadelphia on 31 January 1737.  After graduating from the College of Philadelphia, he worked as an assistant rector, married Elizabeth Hopkinson (17381797), and received his ordination in England. In 1775 he succeeded Rev. Richard Peters as rector of the United Churches in Philadelphia.
