Susan French Livingston Ledyard (1789–1864)

Description

Susan French Livingston, daughter of U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Henry Brockholst Livingston, was born on 4 December 1789 in New York City. In 1811 she married Benjamin Ledyard (1779–1812), a master in chancery in New York. Livingston and Ledyard had one son, Henry Brockholst Ledyard (1812–1880). After her husband's death, Livingston served as the secretary for the Association for the Relief of the Indigent Wives of Soldiers and Sailors. She died in New York City on 7 March 1864.
