Samuel Walter Washington was a son of Bushrod Washington's cousin.

Description

Samuel Walter Washington, son of George Steptoe Washington and Lucy Payne Washington, was born circa 1799 at Harewood. He studied medicine in Philadelphia and worked as a physician. In 1820 he married Louisa Clemson (1805–1882), whose brother's estate would establish Clemson University. The couple had four children who reached maturity.
