St. George Tucker (1752–1827)
In 1814 Tucker and Bushrod Washington exchanged letters regarding the construction of buildings at Mount Vernon.
St. George Tucker, noted jurist, was born in Bermuda on 10 July 1752. As a teenager he relocated to Virginia, where he attended The College of William & Mary, studied law under George Wythe, and gained admission to Virginia bar. During the Revolutionary War, Tucker fought under Nathanael Greene, earning distinction for his actions at the Battle of Guilford Court House.
