To James Lloyd
Mount Vernon June 9th. 1824
Dear Sir
I return you my sincere acknowledgements for your kind favor of the 5th inst., and also for the pamphlet containing Mr Fiske’s address to the Worcester agricultural Society, which I have read, and from the many Judicious observations which it contains, I conclude that this Gentleman is not only a scientific but a practical Agriculturist. The reports which are subjoined respecting the size, condition and other qualifications of the Neat Cattle & working oxen which were exhibited are both interesting and mortifying to a farmer in the Southern States, where the improvement of these useful animals is most shamefully neglected.
I hope that this letter will find you & the ladies of your family safely deposited in Boston & in good health. I beg leave to present to them my most respectful Complts. I am, with great respect & esteem Dear Sir yr. mo. ob. Sevt
