Thomas Lewis and Bushrod Washington were first cousins. They corresponded regarding land matters.

Description

Thomas Lewis, a son of Elizabeth Washington Lewis and nephew of George Washington, was born on 12 November 1760 at Belle Farm, part of the Warner Hall estate in Gloucester, Virginia. He married Anne (Nancy) Harwood around 1783. Harwood and Lewis did not have children. In 1794 Lewis raised and led a militia company in response to the Whiskey Rebellion. He died at Belle Farm on 9 November 1805.
