Description

Francis Harrison Peyton Jr. was born in Loudoun County, Virginia. After studying medicine in Scotland, he returned to Virginia to practice. Peyton served as a surgeon in the U.S. 7th Infantry from 1799 to 1800. In 1802 he married Frances Thornton Washington Ball (17631815), a niece of George Washington and widow of Burgess Ball.
