Elizabeth Braxton Whiting (c. 1759–1818)

Description

Elizabeth Braxton was born circa 1759, probably at Newington, the family plantation in King and Queen County, Virginia. Her uncle was Carter Braxton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and grandson of Robert "King" Carter. George Braxton III, Elizabeth’s father, represented King and Queen County in the House of Burgesses. In 1780 Elizabeth married Henry Whiting (17481786), with whom she would have a daughter and two sons. She died on 24 August 1818.
