Henry Banks (1761–1836)

Bushrod Washington, an executor of George Washington's estate, handled Banks's claims to his uncle's Kentucky lands. 

Description

Henry Banks was born in 1761 in Stafford County, Virginia. As a young man he was a merchant and represented Greenbrier County in the Virginia House of Delegates. A land speculator, he owned tracts close to George Washington’s holdings along the Coal and Kanawha rivers near what is now Charleston, West Virginia.
