Henry Banks (1761–1836)

Bushrod Washington, an executor of George Washington's estate, handled Banks's claims to his uncle's Kentucky lands.

Henry Banks was born in 1761 in Stafford County, Virginia. As a young man he was a merchant and represented Greenbrier County in the Virginia House of Delegates. A land speculator, he owned tracts close to George Washington’s holdings along the Coal and Kanawha rivers near what is now Charleston, West Virginia.
