John Brodhead Romeyn (1777–1825)
John Brodhead Romeyn was born on 8 November 1777 in Marbletown, New York. After graduating with honors from Columbia College (now Columbia University), he returned home to study theology with his father, the pastor of Schenectady's Reformed Dutch Church. He was ordained in 1799, the same year he married Harriet (Arriantje) Bleecker (1780–1825), with whom he would have one son who died in infancy.
