Description

Edward Everett was born on 11 April 1794 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. A graduate of Harvard University, he worked as a Unitarian pastor in Boston before earning a PhD at the University of Göttingenthe first American to receive a doctoral degree. Everett then returned to Massachusetts to serve his alma mater as a professor of Greek literature, overseer, and president. His distinguished political career included stints as a U.S.
