Edward Tilghman Jr. (1750/51–1815)
In 1815 Tilghman Jr. and Bushrod Washington exchanged letters regarding a legal matter.
Edward Tilghman Jr., a cousin of William Tilghman, was the son of a Maryland plantation owner, judge, and sheriff. After studying law in England, Tilghman Jr. fought against the British in the Battle of Long Island (1776), although he never swore allegiance to the patriot cause.
