Rembrandt Peale (17781860)

Description

Rembrandt Peale, the son of artist Charles Willson Peale, was born on 22 February 1778 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He studied painting under his father, Benjamin West, and Jacques Louis David. Peale is perhaps best known for his seventy-nine portraits of George Washington, with whom he shared a birthday.
