George Keith Taylor (17691815)

Description

George Keith Taylor, named after famed Quaker George Keith, was born on 16 March 1769 in Prince George County, Virginia. A graduate of The College of William of Mary, he worked as an attorney in Petersburg. His tenure as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates (17921800) earned him a reputation for skilled oratory and advocacy of penal reform. In 1801 President John Adams appointed Taylor to the U.S.
