Description

Richard Scott Blackburn, son of Thomas Blackburn, was born on 16 May 1760 in Prince William County, Virginia. A U.S. Army officer, he accompanied James Wilkinson to New Orleans on a trade mission and held posts at Dumfries, Virginia, and Fort Washington, Georgia. He also briefly served in the Virginia House of Delegates. Blackburn won promotion to major months before his death in November 1803. His wife Judith Ball (b. 1764, m. 1781) and their four daughters survived him.
