George Atkinson Ward (1793–1864)

Description

George Atkinson Ward was born on 29 March 1793 in Salem, Massachusetts. After working in the family mercantile business, he transitioned to a career as a historian and author. He is best known for editing The Journal and Letters of Samuel Curwen, an American in England from 1775 to 1883 (1842), a loyalist's travelogue that went through several editions. Ward had four children with Mehitable Cushing (1795–1862, m. 1816). He died in Salem on 22 September 1864.
