Dear Brother
Colo. Thos Lee going to Alexandria early tomorrow affords me an opportunity of acknowledging the receipt of yours of the 15 Inst. which reached me yesterday evening, and of thanking you for the anxiety therein expressed for me & mine— I most gratefully thank our all merciful God that it is in my power to inform you that since I wrote you last the Symptoms of my poor wife's disorders have taken a more favourable turn, and the Docr begins to entertain almost sanguine hopes of her recovery— I have had her put in the carriage & road out three or four times for a short distance, which has been of much service to her, and I think if the weather would permit her to use regular exercise, she would be able in a few weeks almost to walk across the room, though at present she is not able to bear her weight on her feet, and is extremely low & weak— My three daughters were well yesterday when Mr Lee came from Mr Turbeville's, and all here enjoy health except Mrs Washington— She desires I will not omit joining her love & best wishes with mine for you & my Sister. I am Yr truly Affectionate Brother & sincere friend
