Dr Sir
The day before yours of the 7 In[s]t. came to hand I received a letter from a gentleman in Washington wherein I was offered for my part of Ashbys bent—as follows—to pay the extrs—what they claim of me, and to pay me the ballance in Kentucky lands that were Settled & improved— my Answer was that haveing declined the Settlement I had contemplated in Kentucky, lands there would not Suit me—and made other proposals to him as to the ballance (which if his lands are worth 5$ pr acre in Kentucky would lower the purchase of the bent about 1000$ I have written the gentleman by this post— the result of his answer you shall be informed of.
