Dear Sir
there is an account standing open in the day Book of Captain Mathew Sleght Late of this place dated the 30 day of November 1776 wich runs thus

By refering to the events of that day your honour will recollect that the Father of his Cuntry left this town the next morning (the Confution of the day prevented the matter being attended to.)
Captain Sleght being engagemd in traffick abroad and some what neglect full of his private affairs it was put of[f] too long (allthough he frequently talked of writing to the gineral and inclosing the account but it was never done.[)]
Mrs Sleght the Widdow is Left some what needdy if your honor thinks proper to pay any attention to the Bussiness She can Sattisfy you as to the truth of statement by getting the Book proved and Seal of the Corperation affixed to the Bill.
your dropping a line at the return of the mail directing her how to act on what your honor as an Exe[c]utor might think to be done will being doing a favour wich She will ever acknowledge for Mrs Sleght.

ALS, NjR. Dunn addressed the letter to BW "at Trenton Court," and the letter was postmarked in Brunswick, NJ on 3 April. BW endorsed the letter. The cover has some notes in BW's handwriting regarding some cases, the notes read "Williamson/ Rob. Thomas vs Perry/ Rule to show cause why the Execu. shd not be staid during the ever/Gilb C. pleas 166/4 East 502/R. Stockton agt mcKey/the rule absolute/the Execu. issued & was returned before the war/An alien Enemy in the Court/he may maintain a suit./Salk 46"
