To Bushrod Washington

My dear Sir

I have found the missing book. It had been brought out of my office into the house & placed on a settee where it was covered with a pile of newspapers. I had put some other book into one of the trunks & supposed it must be this.

I have directed the letters to be copied & will bring them with me to the Supreme court should I not have an earlier opportunity of sending them to you. It will be difficult to comprise them in three volumes.

Did the act pass last congress for fixing the commencement of our term at an earlier day. If it did, what day is named? Yours truly

J. Marshall
