     With great pleasure I communicate, by order of the Philadelphia Southern Society, that, at a meeting of last evening, you were proposed and unanimously elected an honorary member of that association.

     I enclose a copy of the constitution for your use; and request that you will communicate your acceptance or declension of membership; at the same time assuring you, that the latter decision would be receeived by the Society with unspeakable regret.
