Description

Samuel Breck Jr. was born to a wealthy merchant family in Boston on 17 July 1771. Following an education in France, he entered the family business in Boston and then Philadelphia. On Christmas Eve 1795 Breck married Jane Ross (1773–1858), with whom he would have a daughter. His public career consisted of service in the Pennsylvania legislature (1817–20, 1832–34) and the U.S. House of Representatives (1823–25). Breck died in Philadelphia on 31 August 1862.
