Richard Kidder Meade (1746–1805)
Meade was an acquaintance of Bushrod Washington.
Richard Kidder Meade, the grandson of a North Carolina governor, was born on 14 July 1746 in Nansemond County, Virginia. He received a classical education in England before returning to Virginia to farm. His grief-filled marriage to Elizabeth Randolph—all three of their children pre-deceased them—ended with Elizabeth’s passing in early 1774.
