Priscilla Carter Mitchell (1760–c. 1823)
Priscilla Carter Mitchell was a neighbor of Bushrod Washington. Her husband served with Washington as a director of the Mutual Assurance Society of Virginia for the Richmond County area.
Priscilla Carter, the third child and eldest daughter of Robert Carter of Nomini Hall and Frances Ann Tasker Carter, was born on 15 June 1760. Her tutor, Philip Vickers Fithian, described the thirteen-year-old Priscilla as follows:
