John Robinson (1773–1850)

In 1807 Robinson and Bushrod Washington exchanged letters on the subject of taxes on George Washington's lands.

Description

John Robinson was born on 13 February 1773. A resident of Richmond, he was clerk of Henrico County Circuit Court for over fifty years. In 1801 he married Agnes Conway Moncure (1780–1862). Among their eleven children who reached maturity was Moncure Robinson, a civil engineer who helped develop several early railroad lines. John Robinson died in Richmond on 26 April 1850.
