Peyton Short (1761–1825)
In 1800 Short wrote Bushrod Washington regarding Kentucky lands.
Peyton Short, brother of diplomat William Short and brother-in-law of William Henry Harrison, was born on 17 December 1761 in Surry County, Virginia. A graduate of The College of William and Mary, he practiced law and speculated in western lands. After moving to Kentucky, he served as a state senator (1792–96) and collector of customs at Louisville.
