William Peter Lunell (c. 1757–1840)
Lunell, an antiquarian, asked Bushrod Washington for George Washington memorabilia.
William Peter Lunell, a descendant of an Irish Huguenot family, was born circa 1757. A successful Bristol merchant and sugar refiner, he was active in the anti-slavery movement, counting William Wilberforce among his friends. Lunell was also director of the National Assurance Company of Ireland. George and Samuel, his two sons with Alicia Evans (m. 1780), ran a shipping business in Bristol. William Peter Lunell died on 4 April 1840.
