Description

Eliza Caile Scott, a cousin of Julia Ann "Nancy" Blackburn Washington, was born on 28 July 1779 in Cambridge, Maryland. The Scott family moved to Washington, D.C., when George Washington appointed her father to that city's Board of Commissioners. Eliza's husband was Robert Rankin (c. 1783–1823), a U.S. Marine Corps captain, deputy collector at Wilmington, and deputy marshal for the District of North Carolina.
