Isaac Hite Williams (c. 1780–1830)

In 1823 Williams wrote Bushrod Washington regarding affairs in the Superior Court of Chancery for the Fredericksburg District.

Description

Isaac Hite Williams was born in Culpeper County, Virginia. Following attendance at The College of William & Mary, he settled in Fredericksburg and practiced law. He also served as clerk of the Superior Court of Chancery for the Fredericksburg District. Williams died on 4 January 1830, survived by wife Lucy Coleman Slaughter (c. 1781–1850, m. 1798) and five of their seven childrenincluding Peggy French Williams Patton, the great-grandmother of General George S. Patton.
