Dear Sir
As you pass through New York, you will please call upon Mrs Hamilton & recieve from her the original letters from Genl Hamilton to Genl Washington, which I sent her some years ago to have copied. This letter will be considered as an authority for their delivery to you. With great esteem I am very respectfully dear Sir yr mo. ob. servt

ALS, MH: Jared Sparks Personal Papers. BW addressed the letter first to Sparks "at Gadsby's hotel/Washington/D. of Cola" with the note "Should Mr S. have left Washington, this is to be forwarded to him at New York—" However, both the address of Gadsby's hotel and New York were crossed out, and in different handwriting the letter was forwarded to Boston. Sparks endorsed the letter, dating it "June 11./1827."
