Description

Hancock Haynie was born on 6 January 1782 in Northumberland County, Virginia. Following service as a private in a Virginia militia regiment during the War of 1812, he settled in Nuttsville, Lancaster County. There he administered a plantation and was a member of the local (Andrew) Jackson Corresponding Committee. Haynie married Ann Nancy Bryan (17921831) in 1811; they had eleven children. His second wife was Margaret S. Hall Rice (m. 1839). Hancock Haynie died on 25 January 1843.
