William Powell Mason (1791–1867)

Description

William Powell Mason was born on 9 December 1791 in Boston, Massachusetts. Following graduation from Harvard, he opened what would become a successful law practice in his hometown. Mason's tenure as reporter of the U.S. First Circuit Court led to his five-volume Reports of Cases Argued and Determined in the Circuit Court of the United States for the First Circuit (1819–31). He was also a member of the Social Law Library of Boston, serving as its secretary and treasurer for some years.
